Considering Champion Heights vs Austin -help me decide

Alright, Homes are going for about $138,700 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What would you do?

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 36, moved here 8 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Cedar Grove and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The safety situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Definitely worth checking out..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's been a really good experience overall.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Mexican places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
