Hey, I'm a 31-year-old accountant and Homes are going for about $338,400 on average. Rent is about $1,597/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Is this normal for Champlin?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Midtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Tampa about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..
