Affordable areas near Chandler?

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider — Chandler sits at 228.2 per 100K. Homes are going for about $469,800 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Let me know your thoughts.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Eastside area are excellent. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 48, moved here 7 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Uptown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Limited shopping options
3. The walkability situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in legal. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- The outdoor recreation scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..
