We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider — Chandler sits at 228.2 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Phoenix about 15 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Portland about 8 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely better than expected and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Springfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely average and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (South) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Portland it's challenging.

I've lived in Fairview for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The public transit scene is average
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..
