Freelancing from Chanhassen -experience?

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a smaller city city with about 26,001 people. Rent is about $1,749/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Should I be concerned? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a sales manager and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is average and there's always something going on.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Old Town area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

I've lived in North for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The cost of living scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Raleigh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 4 years. Moved from San Diego for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Winters are long and cold. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
