Planning a move to Channel Islands Beach -neighborhoods?
Hello, What would you do? Appreciate any input. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Bought a house here in 2022 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Old Town for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The food scene scene is tough
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
