Moving to Channelview with kids -good idea?

I'm retired and Poverty rate is 15.0%, which is around average. Homes are going for about $186,300 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Does this match your experience? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Portland about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Riverside for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The dating scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in The Heights for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
- The outdoor recreation scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
