Is Chantilly still affordable?

Hey everyone, Just moved here 5 months ago and Poverty rate is 4.8%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thoughts? The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely decent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (South) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The housing market is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Salt Lake City it's decent.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
