Hey, Been living here since 2007. Crime rate is something to consider -Chapel Hill sits at 94.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $576,500, which is pretty steep. It's a a smaller city city with about 59,889 people. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thoughts?

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in East for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The outdoor recreation scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Miami about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
