Hello, I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $85,825 in Chapel Hill. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this?

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Houston it's surprisingly good.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The public transit is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Highland) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a HR manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.
