Random thought, We have two kids and You can expect to pay around $1,483 for rent here. Homes are going for about $576,500 on average. The median home value here is around $576,500, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..
