Day-to-day life in Chapel Hill, NC

So, I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $85,825 in Chapel Hill. The median home value here is around $576,500, which is pretty steep. With a population of 59,889, Chapel Hill is a smaller city. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 7 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.
