First time home buyer in Chapel Hill

Been meaning to ask this. Born and raised here. With a population of 59,889, Chapel Hill is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $576,500, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $576,500 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Highland area are challenging. Kids love it here.
