Been meaning to ask this. Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $576,500 on average. Rent is about $1,483/month for a decent place. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Midtown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The pet-friendliness scene is solid
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
