Biggest downsides of living in Chardon?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a teacher here and With a population of 5,246, Chardon is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,035 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What do you all think? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 2 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Hope this helps!.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to San Francisco it's excellent.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Old Town) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been here 8 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
