Best neighborhoods in Charleston for families?

We have two kids (3 and 9) and are looking for a family-friendly neighborhood in Charleston. Budget is around $1632/month for rent. We prioritize good schools and safety. Any recommendations?

Also, are there good parks and activities for kids in the area?

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Don't sleep on Lakewood. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Pine Grove and Westside are perfectly safe.
