Planning a move to Charleston — neighborhoods?

OK so I'm a 45-year-old project manager and Poverty rate is 6.3%, which is pretty low. With a population of 152K, Charleston is a mid-size city. Household incomes average around $90,038 in Charleston. Homes are going for about $469,100 on average. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I overthinking this? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The healthcare is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The healthcare scene is improving

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is improving in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
