What surprised you most about Charleston?

Been meaning to ask this. Average temperature is around 67°F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,632/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely improving and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (North) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.
