Best things about Charlotte that nobody talks about
As a 4-year resident, here are some things about Charlotte that don't make it into the guides:
1. There are amazing hiking trails 20 min from downtown
2. The library system is phenomenal
3. Cost of living is way better than people think

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 7/10.

Rent tip: look for places in October-November. Prices drop and there's more availability.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

I've lived in Riverside for 7 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Eastside. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Westside and Old Town are perfectly safe.
