Housing market in Charlotte — is it worth buying?

Median home value here is around $351,500. Prices are reasonable compared to major metros. For those renting, typical rent is $1504.

Is now a good time to buy in Charlotte? Or better to keep renting?

Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

As someone who moved here from Miami, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

For families, I'd recommend looking at University District. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 15 years and my experience is very similar.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

The job market has been improving lately. Several finance companies moved in recently.
