Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from New York about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
