Quick question about Charlottesville

First post here. Military spouse here. It's a a smaller city city with about 45,863 people. You can expect to pay around $1,453 for rent here. The median home value here is around $448,400, which is pretty steep. With a population of 45,863, Charlottesville is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Raleigh about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2018 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
