What to expect moving to Chaska?

Been meaning to ask this. The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Chaska sits at 59.0 per 100K. Rent is about $1,436/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Is this normal for Chaska? Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 11 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
