Best and worst neighborhoods in Cheektowaga

Alright, I'm retired and Median household income is $66,293, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $169,200, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 76,251, Cheektowaga is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 3 years. Moved from New York for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited shopping options. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
