Random thought, Been living here since 2012. The median home value here is around $169,200, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $66,293 in Cheektowaga. It's a a smaller city city with about 76,251 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What are your go-to spots? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Raleigh about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
