Is Cheektowaga a good place to live?
Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Chicago and Rent is about $1,025/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $169,200 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 76,251 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.
Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Walkable downtown
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Lack of diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
