Curious what people think. You can expect to pay around $806 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. Thanks for reading. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from San Francisco about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..
