I've lived in Fairview for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The cultural scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
