Cost of living reality check -Chesaning

Longtime lurker here, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $123,900, which is actually reasonable. It's a a small town city with about 2,411 people. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Has anyone dealt with this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Nashville it's average.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Tampa about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Chain restaurants dominate. And community vibe can be frustrating.
