First post here. Just moved here 5 months ago and Homes are going for about $78,300 on average. Rent is about $392/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 35.5%, which is higher than I expected. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Francisco about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Atlanta about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
