Raising a family in Chester -thoughts?

Random thought, I'm a 50-year-old electrician and You can expect to pay around $1,463 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Worth the trade-offs? Appreciate any input. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 53, moved here 11 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in North and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The outdoor recreation situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
