Is it worth buying in Chesterland?

Anyone else feel this way? I work in food service and The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $840/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 6,862 people. Homes are going for about $285,000 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- Rising rent prices
- Poor road conditions
What are your go-to spots? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much wild but now it's decent.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
