First time home buyer in Cheviot

So, Crime rate is something to consider -Cheviot sits at 278.2 per 100K. Rent is about $878/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 4.9%, which is about average. Household incomes average around $54,654 in Cheviot. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What do you all think? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Phoenix it's average.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Definitely worth checking out..

I work in manufacturing here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is solid. Definitely worth checking out..
