Remote worker thinking about Chevy Chase

Anyone else feel this way? The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 9,484 people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 43, moved here 4 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in West and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Can feel isolated
3. The cultural scene situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I work in healthcare here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is decent. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from New York about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..
