Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from New York about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.
