Am I wrong here? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great sushi places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The outdoor recreation is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The pet-friendliness is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much affordable but now it's pretty good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from LA about 10 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..
