How are the schools in Chicago?
OK so Average temperature is around 52°F, so expect cold winters. Anyone in a similar situation?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 13 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
