I'm single, late 50s, and Homes are going for about $315,200 on average. Rent is about $1,380/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Springfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in real estate here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. No regrets on my end..
