I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $1,108 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Chicopee sits at 614.9 per 100K. Homes are going for about $251,800 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The public transit scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Lakewood area are decent. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

I work in manufacturing here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is pretty good. No regrets on my end..
