Is Chicopee still affordable?

So, I've been here for 20 years and Household incomes average around $66,927 in Chicopee.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in East for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Old Town for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- The safety scene is average

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 4 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
