Been living here since 2010. The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $767 for rent here. With a population of 9,129, Chillicothe is a small town. Household incomes average around $51,231 in Chillicothe. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any help is appreciated. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for family and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The housing market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 46, moved here 15 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in The Heights and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The school system situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
