Planning a move to Chillum -neighborhoods?

Homes are going for about $383,900 on average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 12 years. Moved from Phoenix for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is decent - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Dating scene is rough. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 13 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
