Random thought, I'm a 47-year-old firefighter and With a population of 2,726, Chimayo is a small town. Am I wrong here?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Diego about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 49, moved here 8 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Riverside and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited entertainment options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The weather situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a nurse and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Greenfield area are challenging. Kids love it here.
