Hey folks, Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 78,024 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? Cheers. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Midtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Downtown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 1 years. Moved from Raleigh for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Limited high-paying job options. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 30, moved here 1 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in South and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The nightlife situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for couples. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 15 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Springfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The traffic scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..
