Anyone else feel this way? The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to San Diego it's better than expected.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
