Is Chowchilla good for remote workers?

Military spouse here. Household incomes average around $63,308 in Chowchilla. It's a a small town city with about 18,876 people. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $63,308, which feels about average for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Let me know your thoughts. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much growing but now it's challenging.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Tampa about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 7 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
