Bought a house here in 2019 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Highland area are tough. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much affordable but now it's pretty good.
