Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider — Chula Vista sits at 328.5 per 100K. Poverty rate is 6.9%, which is pretty low. It's a a mid-size city city with about 275K people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Should I be concerned? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.
