Quick question about Cimarron Hills

Longtime lurker here, We have two kids and Median household income is $75,853, which feels about average for the area. With a population of 18,808, Cimarron Hills is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Cimarron Hills sits at 458.3 per 100K. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Should I be concerned? The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 11 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The food scene is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 15 years. Moved from Seattle for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is average - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Road conditions need improvement. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
