Relocating to Cimarron, KS -pros and cons?

I grew up here but left for a while. Median household income is $92,762, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Cimarron sits at 413.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 11.1%, which is around average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Uptown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
